Wisdom Product Suite > Wisdom Imaging
Integrated imaging capability allowing seamless integration of paper based information into your business processes.
Although we live in an increasingly digital world, the volume of both paper-based information and physical assets consumed and originated by organisations continues to expand rapidly. For this reason, ECM platforms must include functionality that allows all an organisations information assets to be managed in the same manner. To enable this from within the Wisdom Product Suite, the solution has been extended to include Wisdom Imaging that has been specifically designed to ease the integration of paper.
Wisdom Imaging is a part of the Wisdom Workflow Accelerator Pack, its functionality surfaces in the graphical workflow designer as a series of custom action icons that allow the process designer to drag and drop image handling actions into the process definition. By making Wisdom Imaging only available from within Wisdom Workflow, it can utilise all the graphical workflow actions process management functionality.
Image gathering
Wisdom Imaging is totally independent of specific scanning hardware/software solutions, all it requires is for the scanned image TIFF files to be saved to a specific network location that is constantly monitored by Wisdom Imaging. This is a big commercial advantage over some other imaging solutions that are priced on a user/number of scans basis, as it means there are no limits on the numbers of users or scanning devices that can scan images into a process. Remote users who have no connection to the LAN or VPN can email TIFF files as attachments to a specific mailbox, they are then processed in the same way as if they had been locally saved to the network folder.
Image processing
Wisdom Imaging has been primarily designed to manage the routing of paper documents into Wisdom eDRM and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server, via customised Wisdom Workflow business processes. To allow for bulk scanning of multiple different document types barcodes are used as document separators and optionally for some automated workflow operations. The list of operations is:
Manual handling of the scanned images is achieved by using a TIFF viewer embedded in a Wisdom Workflow form, allowing the user to view the image on their desktop and transcribe the relevant metadata into a form, as well as optionally associating it with a new or existing workflow process.
